Document Libraries, Lists, Discussions and some other web-parts may be configured to receive incoming e-mail with attachments. Each SharePoint site comes with “@emailsharepoint.com” addresses which customers may configure to be associated with a particular library or list. This new and important SharePoint feature significantly reduces the time required to add new content to a SharePoint site – just compose an e-mail and attach the documents you want to appear on your site.
Security for this feature is important to pay attention to – by default your SharePoint will not receive e-mail. It is a feature which you must configure on each list and library. E-mails will only be accepted from users’ e-mail addresses associated with their usernames for the site.
